Discover Scuba Diving

Discover Scuba Diving is an introductory program.  It allows you to experience the thrill of Scuba Diving under supervision of a Professional in a pool.  You will be introduced to basic concepts and scuba skills.  This will allow you to determine if you would like to continue on with the Open Water Course. 

Minimum age is 10

Open Water Diver

Open Water Diver certification is the most popular dive program in the world!  This certification allows you to dive with a buddy independent of a professional.  During this course you will learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques.  You will earn this certification by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives.

Minimum age is 15

Items needed:  Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Boots, Weight Belt, Weights, Hood, Bathing Suit, and Towel

Cost = $325.00

For your children we offer Junior Open Water Diver Program between the ages of 10 and 14 years.  A Junior Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 12 years may only dive with a PADI Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40 feet.

Advanced Open Water Diver

Prerequisite course is Open Water Diver

To earn your Advanced Open Water Diver rating you will need to complete Deep Adventure Dive and Underwater Navigator Adventure Dive.  You will also need to complete any three of the following dives:  Boat Adventure Diver, Drift Adventure Diver, Dry Suit Adventure Diver, Diver Propulsion Vehicle Adventure Diver, Multilevel Adventure Diver, Night Adventure Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy Adventure Diver, Search and Recovery Adventure Diver, Underwater Naturalist Adventure Diver or Wreck Adventure Diver.  This will allow you to experience different technical dives to determine which ones are right for you.  You will perform five training dives over two days to complete this course. 

Minimum age is 15

Cost = $225.00

For your children certified as a Junior Open Water Diver we also offer Junior Advanced Open Water Diver.  Minimum age for this course is 12 years.

Rescue Diver

Prerequisite course is Advanced Open Water Diver and the successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months.  The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses meet these requirements.

This course will expand your knowledge and experience level:  Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers.  Rescue diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies.  During your five open water sessions, you will cover:

  •   Self-rescue and diver stress

  •   AED and Emergency Oxygen Delivery Systems

  •   Dive First Aid

  •   Swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques

  •   Panicked dive response

  •   Underwater problems

  •   Missing diver procedures

  •   Surfacing the unconscious diver

  •   In-water rescue breathing protocols

  •   Egress (exits)

  •   First aid procedures for pressure releated accidents

  •   Dive accident scenarios

Minimum age is 15

Emergency First Response

Minimum requirements = None

In this course you will learn CPR, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid training organization.  This course encompasses adult, child and infant CPR skills, provided AED and first aid training.  It also features an outstanding First Aid at Work component.  This course will satisfy the prerequisites for Rescue Diver and Divemaster certifications.  The Emergency First Response program meets requirements for CPR and First Aid in the workplace (OSHA Guideline 29 CFR 1910.151), and incorporates the latest procedures for emergency patient care. 

No Minimum age limit

Master Scuba Diver

Minimum requirements = Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, 50 logged dives and Five Specialty Course Certifications.

Master Scuba Diver is the highest recreational level in the PADI system of diver education.  As a Master Scuba Diver you will be well qualified to begin your training as a Divemaster.

Dive Master

Minimum requirements = Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, Medical Clearance signed for a physician, and 20 logged dives.

This is the first step in a dive career.  You will work closely with your Dive Instructor to expand your knowledge and hone your skills as you work to become a dive professional.  Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. 

Divemasters are able to do:

  •  Work at local dive centers, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts      and at exotic resort locations.

  •  Assist PADI Instructors with students

  •  Lead PADI Scuba DIvers on guided dive tours

  •  Teach PADI Discover Snorkeling programs

  •  Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers

  •  Conduct PADI Scuba Review programs for certified divers

  •  Lead certified divers on Discover Local Diving experiences

  •  Teach Emergency First Response programs after successful completion of an Emergency First Response Instructor course.

During this course you will learn to dive leadership through classroom and independent study sessions.  You will complete water skills and stamina exercises in confined and open water.  You will do training exercises to test organizational and problem solving abilities and complete and internship or series of practical training exercises. 

Minimum age is 18
